AF Compressors USA: 30 Years of Innovation and Customer Commitment in the PET Industry

In 1995, AF Compressors established AF USA Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia, responding to growing demand for oil-free air compressors in the expanding PET packaging sector. Thirty years later, AF USA stands as a trusted partner in North America, known for delivering energy-efficient, reliable solutions tailored specifically to the PET market.

A Strategic U.S. Presence

AF’s early success in the U.S.—supplying compressors to global PET container manufacturers—highlighted the need for local presence. By the late 1990s, AF USA was already responsible for more than 25% of AF Group’s global turnover. Today, the U.S. market remains a key focus, both commercially and strategically, shaping product development and customer service.

Built for PET. Engineered for Performance.

With 99% of its business focused on the PET sector, AF Compressors has spent decades refining the oil-free piston compressor. Its simple, robust design includes fewer moving parts and consumes less energy than comparable systems. Key innovations—such as the AFS (Adjustable Flow System), SIS (Smart Inverter Starter), and patented AIO (All-In-One)—were developed in response to real customer needs: better energy control, compact design, and lower total cost of ownership.

Service-Driven Growth

AF USA’s team of 22 engineers and service experts supports customers across the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico (through its subsidiary AF Mexico). The company provides turnkey installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and retrofitting of older equipment.

At its Carrollton, GA headquarters—just outside Atlanta—AF USA maintains a $1M+ spare parts inventory in its 5,750 sq. ft. warehouse. The facility also hosts the AF Training Academy, offering customized training for both internal technicians and customer teams. The goal: empowering users to run systems safely, efficiently, and independently.

Meeting Evolving U.S. Market Needs

In North America, many end-users are now bringing full PET production lines in-house. As a result, they are more directly involved in equipment selection and maintenance. AF USA is addressing this shift through deeper customer education, system integration support, and innovation focused on energy savings and sustainability.

Its Heat Recovery System, for example, recovers up to 80% of the energy generated during compression—energy that can be reused elsewhere in the facility. These innovations not only reduce environmental impact but also lower operational costs.

A Vision for the Future

As it looks to the next decade, AF USA remains committed to controlled, quality-focused growth. Rather than expanding through third-party agents, the company is investing in its own people, infrastructure, and proximity to customers. This direct model ensures fast response times and the same high service standards that have earned AF a 60–65% global PET market share.

After 30 years, the mission hasn’t changed: deliver top-tier PET compressor solutions with uncompromising service and sustainable innovation.

“We know that the best service makes the best presales, Our mission is to stay close to our customers, ensuring they achieve the best performance, sustainability, and reliability possible.”
